Equal Opportunities Officer
It is stipulated in § 15 of Brandis' main statute of 1 October 2014 that an Equal Opportunities Officer can be appointed. Antje Busch-Sandmann was appointed unanimously to the position in the town council's meeting of 31 March 2015. Her responsibilities include working towards the realisation of the constitutional right of gender equality in the range of authority of the Brandis council.
36 years old, she passed her Abitur in Brandis, studied psychology in Leipzig and works as a clinical neuropsychologist. "I consider myself as a link between politics/administration and the citizens. That's why there will be consultation hours. With this I aim to be the point of contact for all citizens." One area, among others, Antje Busch-Sandmann would like to look into is the compatibility of career and family life for women and men and what role opening hours of the child care centres play in this. Citizens of Brandis, Beucha and Polenz are invited to contribute ideas, e.g. for small projects to further the issue of equal opportunities.
